National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration
Overview
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's (NOAA) mission is to describe and predict changes in the Earth's environment, and conserve and wisely manage the Nation's coastal and marine resources.
NOAA Research is conducted mainly through the Office of Ocean and Atmospheric Research. The NOAA research "network consists of 12 internal research laboratories, NOAA Office of Ocean Exploration, extramural research, a network of more than 200 institutions participating in the Sea Grant university and research programs, six undersea research centers, a research grandts program through the Climate Program Office, and 13 cooperative institutes with academia."
