Energy Center and Program Information

Dear Energy Leader,

Despite the large national investment in energy research and education at US colleges and universities, there is no single source of information on university-based energy research centers and education programs. We invite you to have your institution included in the first national directory that provides detailed information on focus, funding, personnel and other success factors.

The online directory is a project of the Council of Energy Research and Education Leaders (CEREL). CEREL is a multidisciplinary membership organization made up of heads of academic energy research and education centers, institutes, and programs. The National Council for Science and the Environment (NCSE) serves as the secretariat for CEREL.

The directory will provide information on individual institutions and collectively provide the first national overview of the role of U.S. universities and colleges in the energy economy. The information will be useful to you as you position your program strategically to attract funders, partners and students. The responses will be available to energy leaders, faculty, students, and others on CEREL's public website. By responding to this survey you are providing consent for your responses to be posted on the website. We encourage you to answer fully, but you can select to keep any answers private if you wish by emailing cerel@NCSEonline.org.

Please respond for a single academic unit focused on energy research or education, such as an energy research center or institute, an academic program, department, or college. There are separate sets of questions depending on whether the institution is focused on research or on education. Please fill in the response form for each academic unit focused on energy. In addition, if you belong to a multi-campus institution, please have a representative from each campus fill in a separate form.

You may also view a PDF version, which you may want to glance over before inputting your answers online, as once underway, the form must be completed in one sitting.

If you have any questions, please contact me at david@NCSEonline.org or 202-207-0004.

Once again, thank you for taking the time to help us build a national picture of the importance of academic energy research and education.

Sincerely,

David E. Blockstein, Ph.D.
CEREL Executive Secretary,
